Pokémon Plush Toys

Plushies, plush toys, stuffed animals, whatever you may call them, they are a huge part of the Pokémon community. So huge in fact that there is an entire store dedicated to Pokémon plush toys.

The Pokémon Center, which originally opened in Japan, also has a location in New York City. They have pretty much all of the Pokémon plush toys you could think of including limited edition cosplay Pikachu and shiny sprites of your favorite characters.

There will soon be even more plushies to choose from with the recent release of Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. I haven’t had the pleasure of explore this glorious Pokémon haven, but I have heard many rant and rave about it.

Where can I get them?

Since taking a trip to New York City is not in my budget or in my calendar of travels, I usually look to the internet for all of my plushie purchases.

You can buy straight from The Pokémon Center’s website, however I like to shop around and compare prices before I buy anything. I am sort of a bargain hunter and am always looking for the best quality products for the least amount of money.

This pretty much excludes any large chain toy stores and Pokémon specialty shops. I myself tend to stick to eBay and Amazon if I am going to purchase any Pokémon Plush Toys. Amazon has great deals for prime members and I have had great experiences with eBay purchases since I first started my buyer profile back in 2008. I also love that you have the option to pay with PayPal. I feel that my payment is secure and my personal information is protected. I always go for the fast and free shipping on eBay too so I can enjoy my Pokémon plush as soon as possible. 🙂

What do I look out for when purchasing plushies online?

  1. Where is the seller located?

Where the seller of the Pokémon plush toy is located can affect a few different aspects in regards to your online purchase. One thing it can impact is the time it takes for you to receive your item once shipped. The farther away the country of origin for the plush is from your location, the longer it will take for you to receive your Pokémon. This may also affect the amount of money you pay to ship the plush toy. International shipping can be costly, so finding a local seller can save you some money.

  2. What company or manufacturer made the plushie?

The company that produced the Pokémon Plush Toys will affect the quality of the plushie itself. The higher the quality of the company, the more the plush will resemble the Pokémon it is meant to portray.

Pokémon Plush Toys that were made for sale at the Pokémon Center and those produced by Tomy will be of the highest quality. These companies directly affiliate with Pokémon so they have to meet certain quality standards before they are sold.

Most other companies and makers that you come across will produce what we would call “bootlegs” or plush toys that generally resemble the real thing, but differences are noticeable. I guess you just have to use your better judgment and knowledge of what the Pokémon actually looks like to make your own determination on the plushies quality.

If you are on a tight budget and aren’t really worried about the appearance being perfect, then you should buy the “bootleg” brands and spread your bucks even further. This is especially great when buying for children who are into the current fad, but probably won’t notice the difference or care in a few months.

  3. Do your research and shop around for the best price and shipping.

You can find the same Pokémon Plush Toy being sold on eBay by multiple sellers who all offer competitive prices on the actual plushie and shipping costs. Always shop around until you find the best deal for your budget.

Finally, don’t forget to have fun and enjoy your new Pokémon plush toy. They are great for snuggles. 🙂
