Mewtwo Coming to Pokémon GO in Exclusive Raid Battles

Pokémon GOers, Get Ready For Mewtwo!

Pokemon GO Mewtwo

Hello again trainers! I have some exciting news for you today, that you won’t want to miss. Mewtwo will finally be making an appearance in Pokémon GO!

As you all know, the events that transpired at Pokémon GO Fest a few weeks ago, unlocked the ability to take on the Legendary Birds, Lugia, Articuno, Moltres and Zapdos in Raid Battles. Many of you may have already taken on these Legends and made them a part of your PokéDex.

These lovely birds were available during specific windows, for only about a week at a time. Lugia & Articuno were available right after the Pokémon GO event, since Team Mystic caught the most Pokémon at the event. For all you Mystic trainers out there, good job! Go Team Mystic!

The following week, Moltres was popping up at gyms everywhere, just waiting to be taken on. Last, but not least, Zapdos made it’s appearance at epic Raid Battles across the globe. These Pokémon were only available for one week at a time, but don’t feel bad if you didn’t get a chance to catch one yet.

These extremely strong Legendary Birds will be available again from August 14th to August 31st. You won’t have to wait for a specific week to catch a particular bird, since all four of them will be available at the same time. You just have to find a Legendary Raid Battle near you.

If you are feeling particularly strong and want to take them all on in one day, then go for it! If you would rather spread them all out and take your time, you have enough time to do that too! Catch them all at whatever pace is good for you. I don’t want you guys over exerting yourselves now. 😉

The Four Legendary Birds

Once you have captured all of the current Legendaries available on Pokémon GO, you can start planning for the new super strong Pokémon, Mewtwo. We have all been waiting for the chance to even catch a glimpse of Mewtwo since the trailer for Pokémon GO came out over a year ago.

The epic scene, where trainers gather from far and wide to work together and take on the powerful Mewtwo! Everyone using there best Pokémon and coordinating their attacks to do the most damage. It doesn’t get more exciting than that!

Don’t forget the rush of defeating the tough challenger and the huge celebration that follows the capture of this Legendary Pokémon. The excitement will be explosive! I can’t wait to take on Mewtwo and capture him once and for all!

Mewtwo made it’s first appearance at the Pokémon GO Stadium event in Yokohama, Japan on August 14th. Thousands of trainers were able to take down Mewtwo by putting in their best efforts. They defeated the mighty Legendary Pokémon and had the chance to add Mewtwo to their PokéDexes.

Although there isn’t a definitive date for when Mewtwo will be available, it is promised to be within the next couple of weeks. I will update you all as soon as I know. Hopefully we don’t have to wait to long of the anticipation will kill me!

So how do I get my hands on a Mewtwo?

Mewtwo Pokemon GO

Encountering Mewtwo will be similar to encountering other Legendary Pokémon in Pokémon GO. You will see Mewtwo pop out of Raid Eggs at random Pokémon Gyms across the globe, so this hasn’t changed.

Some other things have changed though. Mewtwo will only appear at Exclusive Raids. Exclusive raids are a little different than traditional Raid Battles. In order to participate in an Exclusive Raid Battle you must first receive an invite to the Raid, unlike traditional Raids, where anyone could join with a Raid Pass.

To be eligible to receive an Exclusive Raid Battle invitation, you must have successfully completed a Raid Battle recently. In other words, you must have taken on the Raid Boss and defeated it.

Another thing is, you can only be invited to Exclusive Raid Battles at the same Gyms that you have defeated Raid Bosses at. Again the taking down of the Raid Boss must have happened recently. I’m not sure just how recently, but I’m guessing within a week’s time.

If you have defeated a Raid Boss recently and an Exclusive Raid pops up at that same Gym, you will receive an invite to the Exclusive Raid Battle with Mewtwo! The invitation includes advance warning about the date, time and location that the Exclusive Raid will be taking place.

Having a heads up when taking on such a strong Pokémon will definitely be a huge help. This gives everyone time to clear up their schedules and put time aside for this epic battle. Everyone will have plenty of time to gather their friends so they have a better chance of taking Mewtwo down.

Mewtwo will be the first Pokémon appearing at Exclusive Raid Battles everywhere, but it won’t be the last. Other powerful Pokémon may start to hatch from Raid Eggs and be available to battle at Exclusive Raid Battles in the next several weeks or so.

Since these Pokémon will be available at Exclusive Raids, I’m confident that they will be far stronger than the Pokémon available at traditional Raid Battles. You might want to catch some really strong Raid Bosses so you can stand a chance against the Exclusive Raid Bosses.

Some tough challenges lurk in the up and coming weeks, so don’t be left behind when you are unprepared. Time to start catching the strongest Pokémon you can, powering up the strongest ones you have and gathering a powerful group of trainers to take on Mewtwo!

Until next time….be legendary!

Well, this was quite an informative article. I remember when the Pokemon Go Game came out. I never did try it. My teenagers did and they loved it. I was a bit worried about how they were all over the place because of the game. And I did worry about their safety due to news reports that I had received about people getting a little too into the game and getting hurt in accidents. But thanks to this article I can at least begin to see the fun in the game. Thanks for this insightful article. Good to see what all the fuss was about.

      Hello Michelle,

Maybe you should give Pokémon GO a try. I know it’s not for everyone, but you never know unless you dive right in and find out for yourself.

I love that your teenagers play the game too! It can be a little scary though, especially with all those news stories about kids getting hurt while playing the game. The game has many warnings throughout that remind players to be aware of their surroundings while playing and to never play while driving, however they can’t exactly enforce it. It’s up to the players to keep their wits about them while playing and to always go on adventures with friends so they aren’t by themselves. Safety is always first, and fun second.

Thanks for checking out my site and make sure to let your teenagers know about Mewtwo so they can “Catch ’em all!”

Just finished reading your article Mewtwo Coming to Pokémon GO in Exclusive Raid Battles. I haven’t tried the game so I figured I would do a little search to see what all the buzz is about. I saved your websites to my favorites so I can continue my Pokemon education. Pokemon looks like a lot of fun but I’m not sure I want to travel around the world chasing Pokemon characters. Anyways, thank for the great article.

      Hello Jack,

I highly recommend giving Pokémon GO a shot. It has definitely helped me get out of the house more often as well as move around more. That’s one of the best parts about the game. You don’t have to sit in one place and stare at a TV screen indoors. You can get some fresh air, exercise and catch some cool Pokémon all at the same time! There are some Pokémon that are only available in certain countries, but you don’t have to travel the world to enjoy the game. It’s easy to play and you can download it for free from the App Store for IOS or Google Play for Android. Once you start playing you will be hooked!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope I have helped you further your Pokémon knowledge. Feel free to check out my other posts to learn even more about the wonderful world of Pokémon.

      -Tabitha 🙂
